The value of each stage

You might think that an inspection is only needed when the property is complete but staged building inspections throughout the build will make sure problems are identified as soon as possible and can be rectified and fixed before the build is complete.
Don't just wait to find defects when the build is complete, have your property evaluated throughout each stage to ensure maximum structural integrity and longevity.
The key stages of inspection are;

BASE STAGE
This stage is broken down into two sections:
Pre-concrete installation - Includes the inspection of the slab preparation including waffle pod/sand installation, steel reinforcement placement etc.
The second section is after the concrete footings are poured.

FRAME STAGE
The frame is the skeleton of your home. Its quality will determine how your house will withstand age and other factors. When the floor, wall and roof frames are complete, the future structural integrity and performance of the building will depend on if the builder gets the framing correct in accordance withbuilding regulations & Australian Standards.This is a vital stage that must be thoroughly checked and documented. This stage should not have any faults before building continues.

LOCK-UP STAGE
Pre-plaster; external cladding or brickwork is completed. When external walls are complete, windows and doors are installed and roof coverings are fixed. This stage is important to make sure that all electrical cables and plumbing pipes are installed properly.
The timber or steel frame is also rechecked during this stage to ensure that no faults have occurred and quality is still up to standard.

FIX STAGE

Wet areas are prepared for waterproofing prior to tiling.timber skirting, timber architraves, and joinery units are installed and the house is ready for paint.Last-stage finishing work is required to be completed and will be checked to determine whether it conforms to plan in readiness for the Final Handover stage.

PRE-HANDOVER STAGE

All work in the property has been completed and one last inspection is performed before the property is presented and handed over to you. This stage will ensure that the property is exactly what you wanted and that there are no structural or cosmetic defects present.

Inspect Direct can handle all of these inspections and ensure your property meet Australian and Victorian building regulations. We provide thorough and in-depth inspections on all stages and never miss a detail.
